For this preschool transformation, I was inspired by the passionflower vine that was thriving on the school playground. The kids would witness its annual bloom, as well as observe the magical metamorphosis of caterpillars into butterflies. While I painted, tiny hummingbirds made frequent visits to their little feeder (much to the delight of everyone). Even though it wasn’t in my original design, I just had to add one to the mural!
Because it was specifically for little ones (ages 3-5), I wanted the imagery to be fun and larger than life. Through the use of bold color and a playful composition, we were able to convert this once bland and boring wall into a happy and welcoming place to learn and play.
