More about the blankets

All of my blankets are made at a small, family-run knitting mill on the East Coast. They are an impressively heavy weight, and made from 80% recycled cotton. You can machine wash and dry them (amazing!). Blankets can be shipped to you no matter where you live, and are available for wholesale.

In the case of my blankets, the recycled cotton is pre- and post-consumer waste - as in, remnants and excess materials from other industries that are bound for the landfill or incinerator.

The excess cotton is sorted by color, broken back down into fiber form and then re-spun into new yarn! The process is pretty aggressive, and weakens the fibers - so it’s necessary to blend with virgin fibers to increase strength and durability - which is why my blankets are 80% recycled cotton and 20% acrylic.

Cotton is an extremely resource-intense crop in terms of water, pesticides and insecticides. This means that using recycled cotton can lead to significant savings of natural resources and reduce pollution from agriculture. And, because the cotton is already dyed there is no need to use more valuable resources to create the vibrant colors.

It’s all pretty rad!
